Responsibilities
- This role sits within the Strategic Planning & Stress Testing (SP&ST) team, which is situated within the Finance function.
- The job holder will support the development of in-house capabilities to design and enrich scenarios (including macroeconomic and climate scenarios), and deliver these scenarios for multiple, concurrent regulatory and internal SP&ST exercises at the Group level and the Asia Pacific region.
- Critically review and challenge model outputs and generate insights for a senior audience in the Region and countries.
- Work with internal and external experts to identify global risk themes, design scenario narratives and key drivers, and calibrate and benchmark scenario shocks to ensure coherent paths for economic and climate variables. This includes embedding the scenario analysis into other SP&ST activities (e.g. Planning and forecasting)
- Responsible for the production of scenario framework and documents with high-quality standards. This includes the production of data visualisation for critical stakeholders.
- Perform economic data research, collection and analysis together with the development of relevant statistical, and econometric methodologies to support the scenario expansion
- Monitor the economic environment and climate trends and contribute to the design of a reporting framework to comment on key climate risks developments, economic forecasts, potential narratives and the impact of emerging risks and fast-moving events
- Lead discussions to understand stakeholders’ requirements/ challenges as well as identify and validate improvements made continuously from a forecast quality and underlying data/model standpoint.
Requirements
- Degree or Master in Economics, Statistics, Engineering, or equivalent with 3+ years of experience in a related area of work
- Strong understanding of global macroeconomic trends and risk issues
- Experience or knowledge of climate change risk issues, climate change policy or economics, and climate change science, gained through professional experience, academic research or postgraduate education, will be an added advantage
- Experience in addressing technically challenging regulatory and senior stakeholders’ requests, including macroeconomic challenges using advanced quantitative techniques
- Experience in analysing and designing models to capture relationships between global macro economy, assets and market variables
- Hands-on experience in statistical software such as R/Python/SAS will be an asset
- Strong data visualization skills – able to source economic, climate and financial data and produce innovative charts and graphs to summarize critical messages
- Strong verbal and communication skills
Average Salary: HK$56,550
