George Washington University Scholarships For International Students

The George Washington University offers Certificate, Associate, terminal-associate, Bachelor’s, post-bachelor’s certificate, Master’s, Post-master’s certificate, Doctorate – professional practice, and Doctorate – research/scholarship.

Undergraduate international students who have earned a minimum of 30 credits at GW and have maintained a 2.0 GPA or better may apply for institutional financial assistance.

International students who qualify may receive a need-based grant for up to $10,000 if they have not already received other GW grants and scholarships totaling $10,000 or more.

If you are a first-year applicant and receive a merit scholarship, your award will continue for up to 10 consecutive semesters of undergraduate study as long as you maintain continuous full-time enrollment and satisfactory academic progress.

Unless otherwise indicated, all scholarships and merit awards can only be used toward undergraduate tuition expenses. The value of these scholarships varies.

Types Of GW Scholarships For International Students

These are the scholarships that international students can apply for;

1. Presidential International Scholarship

Any non-U.S. citizen or non-permanent resident admitted to GW as a first-year undergraduate for the fall semester and who possesses strong academic credentials is eligible for a Presidential International Scholarship.

Automatic consideration will be given to eligible candidates at the time of admission, but priority is given to applicants who have admissions files that are complete by the application deadlines (Early Decision or Regular Decision).

The value of the scholarship varies but can cover full tuition.

2. Presidential Academic Scholarships

International first-year applicants who graduate from high schools in the U.S. are automatically considered for Presidential Academic Scholarships.

3. International Engineering Scholarships

The School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS) offers a generous program of scholarships through the Presidential Academic Scholarship Program, and all international applicants to SEAS are considered for them.

You are required to enroll in the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences to receive the award.

4. International Baccalaureate (IB) Scholarship

First-year applicants who are on track to graduate secondary school with an IB Diploma are automatically considered for the IB Scholarship.

You are welcome to apply for the George Washington Scholarship, they are excited to offer two scholarships each year to international applicants.

Applicants will need to answer a short essay question or present a multimedia project about their ideas for advancing intercultural learning and understanding on their future campus.

The scholarship award will cover at least 50% of the tuition costs for the application year. Applicants who wish to be considered for this scholarship must submit a CSS Profile with their application.

• If you receive GW employee benefits, you are not eligible to receive a merit scholarship.
