Details About The Irish Naval Service
The Naval Service is the maritime component of the Defence Forces of Ireland and is one of the three branches of the Irish Defence Forces.
The Naval Service is the State’s principal seagoing agency that operates jointly with the Army and Air Corps.

Requirement For Irish Naval Service Recruitment
- Naval Service candidates must be between 18-27 years at the time of their application.
- No formal education qualifications are required to join the Defence Forces as a recruit
- The height requirement for all candidates wishing to enlist in the Defence Forces is that they must be a minimum of 157.48cm.
Recruitment Process For The Irish Naval Service
- Once you have met the required requirement you can go ahead to apply
- The candidates are required to complete an online application form on www.military.ie
- All candidates who meet the minimum eligibility criteria will then be invited to attend a Fitness Test
- All applicants who are successful in the fitness test phase will be invited to complete Psychometric Testing.
- Candidates who are successful at the psychometric tests are asked to attend an interview based on competencies like the ability to work under pressure, Teamwork and Motivation
- Candidates will be required to pass both the medical examination and security vetting to be considered for induction.
