Role And Responsibilities
- Conduct intricate modifications and repairs on wide-body aircraft, specifically focusing on outer rear spar structure.
- Expertise in structural procedures, specifically having high proficiency in chain drilling, riveting, reaming, and repair techniques.
- Ability to interpret and meticulously follow complex engineering drawings with precision and attention to detail, ensuring adherence to specifications and standards.
- Restore or repair defects using unique aircraft fastening hardware, ferrous and non-ferrous materials, composite materials, chemicals, adhesives and paint.
- Removal of major aircraft structural sections, whilst stress jacked.
- Carry out work in compliance with company, health and safety and airport procedures and regulations.
- Maintains a FOD free working area and cleans up bay area before and after work.
- Assures that all material, parts, tools, equipment and documentation is prepared at the beginning of the shift.
- Ensures that all unused serviceable and unserviceable items are returned to stores with the correct label attached.
- Maintains equipment and premises utilised by maintenance staff in a serviceable, clean and safe condition.
- Behaves in a manner which reflects a professional approach when dealing with customers.
- Keeps updated on new Technical Notices, Quality Notices issued, general and technical information.
- Accepts appropriate training that will enable a more effective contribution.
- Ensures that all work performed is completed in accordance with applicable processes and procedures and is done in a safe manner.
- Become familiar with and follow the procedures stipulated in the Safety & Quality Management Plan (SQMP) and become an active participant in the workplace safety program.
Skills and Experience:
- Completion of formal aircraft apprenticeship or equivalent.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience within an aircraft maintenance environment.
- Ideally recent Commercial/Military aircraft and structures experience.
- Previous experience working in confined spaces and fuel tank environments.
- Demonstratable experience in aircraft structural repair/modification/production environment.
- Experience of implementing and carrying out aircraft component modifications.
- Experienced and capable of reading manufacturers drawings and SRMs.
- Meet qualifying criteria for all required security clearances.
- Ability to work in a dynamic environment and be flexible to meet changing working requirements.
