The Opportunity:

JMP is seeking an Associate to join its Healthcare Research Group in NY, working with the biotechnology team. The Biotechnology Research Associate will be involved in all facets of JMP’s research activities and will play an integral role in supporting the coverage of more than 25 publicly traded companies, communicating with public investors, presenting to the JMP salesforce and interacting with company executives.

The specific responsibilities of the Associate include but are not limited to writing research reports, financial analysis and modelling, conducting industry and company-specific research, and coordinating the various processes involved in generating actionable, proprietary research.

Responsibilities:

• Write company-specific and thematic investment-driven research reports.
• Perform scientific due diligence
• Create and maintain financial models
• Conduct research from the primary literature, proprietary databases, and tailored industry surveys
• Attend meetings with management teams and investor conferences
• Analyze and update investment themes and ideas across the Biotech sector
• Respond to requests from the institutional sales force and investors

Skills/Qualifications:

• Science PhD and MD – CFA, MBA or courses in financial modelling or accounting preferable
• Live in, or ability to relocate to, the Tri-State area
• A love of stocks and the stock market
• Basic understanding of accounting and finance
• High level of proficiency with Excel
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Superb analytic skills
• Strong team working skills
• Superior work ethic

40 hours per week

Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
