How You’ll Make an Impact:

Reporting to the CFO of Canada and the Noram VP of Finance for Energy & Resources, this role operates as a Business Partner to the Segment providing finance leadership and support.

The Finance Director’s role is to provide actionable insights and leadership to drive the contract or site performance per the financial terms and spirit of the contract.

They leverage transversal finance teams and provide clients with a conduit for financial issues, e.g., overdue debt follow-up, change control, etc.

The position will provide the opportunity to deliver real value to the clients and Sodexo while ensuring robust analysis and reporting to the business, Sodexo, and the client, as to the area’s progress.

The Finance Director is responsible for driving the financial and commercial performance in NORAM in partnership with the SVP Operations, ensuring risk mitigation plans are in place.

Responsibilities include:

  • Budgeting and forecasting for Canada’s Energy and Resources Segment
  • Lead financial analysis and reporting for all Segment areas
  • Support the SVP for the Segment to maximize the profitability of the division through financial interventions, including performance mitigations, driving growth
  • Lead development of departmental business plans, including financial and operational priorities, ensuring alignment to segment goals and objectives
  • Partnering on operational improvement actions, including contract development and execution
  • Actively participate in client retention activities and initiatives, engaging key client representatives to explain, grow and develop business strategy.
  • Oversight and direction to Segment finance team and operations management on finance strategy, including shared accountability for performance delivery within the Segment.
  • In this role, you will have oversight and responsibility for leading a team of 2-5 employees both directly & indirectly
  • Ensuring appropriate internal governance, in line with Delegation of Authority and ensuring internal management is aligned to the NORAM policies, including providing that the units and above site team
  • Engage and participate as part of the Energy & Resources Senior Leadership team in the development of the overall Segment business strategy
  • Accounting, Auditing, and Risk Assessments for all areas within the segment
  • Providing technical guidance as needed to Segment partners, corporate teams, and customers

Qualifications

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

  • Bachelor’s degree with a major in Finance or Accounting
  • 5-7 years experience in progressive financial management in a leadership position, including preparing budgets, analysis, auditing, and overall costing
  • CA, CPA, CFA, and CMA required
  • Demonstrated experience leading a diverse team of experienced and decentralized professionals within a rapidly changing, high-performance environment
  • Commercial finance experience, e.g., supporting client pricing modeling and negotiations
  • Strong presentation skills and influencing skills
  • Challenger mindset
  • Comfortable with client interaction and appropriately represents Sodexo externally.
  • Understanding a variety of contract structures, including Joint Ventures
  • Superior communication skills, verbal, written, and interpersonal
  • Ability to work in a matrix environment
  • Bilingual English (mandatory) and French (an asset)
