Job Description Summary
This is a global design engineering role where the team’s scope includes mechanical sub-systems and components for GE offshore wind turbines. The purpose of the job will cover conceptual design and functional specification to testing and validation of the different electrical systems of GE offshore wind turbines.
In this role, you will deliver engineering designs/requirements, execute business critical New Product Introductions, drive cost competitiveness, and ensure world-class subsystem performance of the biggest offshore Wind Turbine up to date. You will work together with Supply Chain, EHS, and Operations relevant stakeholders, among others, to deliver the best solution from a whole value chain perspective.
Mechanical sub-systems include components inside the tower as well as interfaces of these components with the substructure, such as platforms, service lifts, access ladders, anchor points, cable trays, and mechanical fixation of HV cables.
Moreover, in this role, you will work with the engineering team to support tower manufacturing activities during the assembly of the tower internals. You will deliver good practice solutions, use sound engineering judgement and apply lessons learnt to the different tower projects.

Roles and Responsibilities
- Full ownership and accountability for design, development, testing and certification of an appointed sub-system(s).
- Full ownership of calculation methodologies, mechanical validation processes and certification of design for components inside the tower.
- Mechanical/structural FEA calculations (if needed).
- Support tower manufacturing during assembly of internal components.
- Drive compliance of components with international codes and standards like IEC, UL, CSA, ISO, CE, CCC, DIN etc.
- Ensure quality of deliverables, on time delivery, design cost, DFMEA, EHS performance, availability, weight and general targets defined by the business related to the sub-system(s) in question.
- Ensure sub-system fully integrated solution, interface with mechanical, controls, and power conversion systems.
- Ensure proper design reviews and documentation quality according to RE-120 instructions and defined project gates.
- Perform Engineering Excellence and provide innovative design solutions to deliver world-class quality.
- Drive changes across the engineering change management system.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering or related discipline. Preferably mechanical.
- Minimum 7 years proven technology and/or product management experience.
- Minimum 3 years in offshore wind business. Preferably in offshore tower manufacturing.
- Fluent in English (spoken and written).
Desired Characteristics
- Wind industry expertise with proven results in developing & implementing technology programs.
- Wind turbine Tower & Substructure and related component technical and business expertise.
- Knowledge of offshore tower manufacturing processes for the assembly of internals.
- Knowledge of Offshore Wind Standards and Design Guides.
- Skilled in mechanical component design, calculations, and specifications.
- Experience in NX and Ansys.
- Knowledge of calculation methods related to the strength of materials and finite element simulations. Knowledge of metallurgy and welding processes is an added value for the job.
- Demonstrated system thinking and ability to assess tradeoffs, effectively assess risk, and optimize results.
- Business acumen and customer focus.
- Demonstrated ability to work horizontally across stakeholders to influence outcomes.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including ownership, self-motivation, problem-solving, analytical thinking, team working, good communication skills and the ability to develop relationships.
