The Role:
As a Platform Manager in our MAG Technology team, you’ll be charged with helping us to transform our business through technology, digital and automation.
Working across our airports and group functions, the primary role of the Platform Manager is to help enhance and adapt new or existing systems, helping to improve business efficiency and productivity.
Your role will help to ensure our products are released successfully, are fit for purpose, available and secure.
The Platform Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring that technology platforms are effectively leveraged to support the organization’s strategic objectives, while also managing risks and optimizing performance to drive business success.
This role will work closely with the Product Manager, Business Stakeholders, Developers, Business Analysts, Solution Architects and Director of Technology to deliver system and data changes.
Role Responsibilities
Platform Roadmap
- Working alongside the Product Manager and Business Stakeholders to collate, prioritise and schedule the backlog of demand for the relevant platforms, ensuring its adherence to the Technology Strategy and Business Objectives.
Platform Governance
- Establishing and enforcing governance policies and procedures for the relevant technology platforms. This includes compliance with internal MAG policies and regulatory and security standards.
Platform Performance and Monitoring
- Monitoring the performance and health of our platforms, identifying areas for improvement, implementing optimization and working with our support teams and third parties to resolve.
Vendor Management
- Managing the relationship between internal Technology teams, the wider business and our third-party providers. This includes management of third-party access, ensuring change policies are adhered to by third parties, assisting the Project Manager in establishing feasible dates for technical activities and managing business stakeholders’ expectations on change deadlines.
- Working with the Product Owner to maintain a high quality of service to our users and deliver new features to the technical products which meet business requirements
- Enable faster and smarter business processes by helping to implement workflow and automation
- Ensuring own knowledge of the products and upcoming features is kept up to date
- Responsible for maintaining a release schedule along with the backlog of enhancements, defects and upgrades
- Provide support to our user base and promote best practice use of the products and process
- Create and maintain knowledge documentation for the product area
- Monitors and actions incidents and requests assigned to the product team
- Assisting in designing, developing and testing reports
- Ensure a focus on data quality e.g. naming conventions, data standards, transformation rules and related specifications
- Responsible for platform governance from demand to implementation
- Adheres to change management policies and procedures e.g. through testing of changes, new applications and upgrades in a non-production environment
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, 3rd parties and subject matter experts to help identify potential solutions or increase performance, resilience affordability; making recommendations where required
- Work closely with Process Owners to ensure business processes are performing as required
- Ensures thorough testing is carried out on the products before an upgrade and works with Process Owners to ensure their testing has been completed correctly
What will make you a successful Platform Manager?
- 2 years plus working experience in a Platform Manager role
- ITIL Foundation V4 certified
- Experience in systems analysis and administration in one or more enterprise-wide tools, including but not limited to ServiceNow, Maximo, Office365 (SharePoint & Power Platform)
- Experience in system configuration, including building workflows within enterprise-wide tools
- A basic knowledge of web applications, networks, protocols, emails (SMTP, POP3) and Active Directory and LDAP
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science is desired
- Can work effectively at pace across both agile and waterfall methodologies
- Strong oral, written and presentation skills – ability to explain complexity easily to a non-technical stakeholder group
