Job Description.
It’s an active role; carrying books, pushing trolleys, lifting boxes, and being on your feet for long periods.
The job provides variety from welcoming a range of customers, solving basic library queries, helping customers use computers, and supporting regular library events.
To succeed as a Saturday Assistant, you will be friendly, enthusiastic, and hardworking with excellent digital skills and the ability to follow instructions and complete tasks accurately to a set deadline. You will be a keen team player, able to work alongside other library staff and volunteers providing excellent customer service to the whole range of visitors to the library. Good communication skills are key as you will be helping customers of all ages and answering their queries, referring to senior library staff when necessary.
Responsibilities.
- Good communication and customer service skills to interact effectively with the general public and experience providing a service by giving essential advice and guidance.
- Experience team working and the ability to work as part of a team, completing shared tasks, including working alongside volunteers.
- Ability to meet set deadlines, e.g., getting books organized and shelved on time.
- Ability to handle library resources carefully and pass on any issues where appropriate.
- Numeracy and literacy skills to put resources into alpha/numeric order and to deal with handling cash or books on the helpdesk.
Requirements.
- 4 GCSEs with A-C passes, including Maths and English or equivalent qualification/experience.
- Digital expertise and experience, particularly with basic Office applications.

Salary: £18,516 – £18,887 per annum (£3,704 – £3,777 pro rata, per annum).
