We are looking for an experienced Senior Commercial Analyst to join our close knit and dedicated team. This is a fixed term full-time role until March 2025, based in our central Wellington office.

As Senior Commercial Analyst you will quantitatively and qualitatively evaluate commercial and business development opportunities. Your experience in building robust business cases will help shape several large investment and commercial decisions.
- Develop high grade recommendations on commercial contracts and business opportunities.
- Support the business development specialist to quantify the costs, benefits and risks associated with key strategic contracts and commercial arrangements.
- Lead the development of business cases and assessments for significant commercial opportunities – including new technology/revenue generation initiatives.
- Provide recommendations, options and insights around the structuring of commercial terms and incentives including financial impact modelling of contract variations.
- Provide financial analysis of potential asset and infrastructure purchases.
- Work across the business to drive longer term cost efficiency and effective operations, systems and tools.
- Ensuring data integrity by maintaining accurate and trustworthy commercial information throughout its lifecycle.
- Ensure that operational capability is fostered and maintained to perform commercial business as usual tasks across Metlink.
- Provide insights and analysis to the wider group around major contracts.
- Carrying out such other duties relating to resource management (air, land, water) as may be assigned from time to time.
Skills and experience required:
- Strong inter-personal skills and the ability to get on with colleagues while seeking data and providing feedback and insights.
- An appropriate tertiary qualification, preferably in commercial, management accounting, financial or a scientific discipline.
- Proven experience working across performance reporting, cost modelling & financial analysis.
- Experience in a large or complex commercial entity in a similar role.
- Advanced excel skills (including macros) and experience using financial modelling and business analytics applications to a high degree.
- A track record of analytical, evaluative and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- The ability and passion to live in the finest detail of commercial dealings and to understand their intricate calculations.
- A background in transport/infrastructure investment and commercial contacts would be an advantage.

The salary range for this position, inclusive of all benefits, is $92,702 to $139,053, with a midpoint of $115,877. Starting remuneration will depend on the skills and experience of the successful applicant.
