Job Description.

The main purpose of the SHE Advisor is to support the Market H&S Manager in providing specialist advice and support regarding the management and continual improvement of Safety, Health and Environment at the Halifax facility, including supporting the creation and implementation of SHE and other training programmes.

Responsibilities.

  • Assist the H&S Manager in the maintenance and ongoing development of an effective integrated SHE management system at the Halifax site.
  • Responsible for the continuous improvement of ISO45001 and ISO14001 management systems in alignment with Nestle Continuous Excellence practices across the entire site.
  • Provide specialist advice in SHE management to ensure compliance with legal and Nestle standards and ensure changes are applied correctly and sustained across the entire site. This may include materials handling and storage, fire safety, process safety, contractor management, construction safety, machinery safety, high hazards tasks etc.
  • Assist in the development, preparation and/or revision of policies, procedures, risk assessments, safe systems of work, and Integrated Management System Manual updates.
  • Train, coach and assess key competencies and tools. Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and track actions through to completion.
  • Advise on civil claims investigations to minimise the Company’s liability.
  • Support the creation, implementation, review and delivery of SHE and other training programmes for all levels of management, employees and embedded contractors.
  • Support the management of the site’s occupational health management/ surveillance, ergonomics, biosafety, stress & resilience.
  • Assist in the promotion of appropriate SHE communications, awareness campaigns and initiatives aligned with the creating shared value strategy.
  • Support SHE incident investigations: ensure root cause and robust actions to prevent reoccurrence are identified and tracked through to completion.
  • Ensure Statutory and Company reporting requirements are met and demonstrate effective risk-based thinking.
  • Keep up with professional and technical developments in safety, health and the environment.
  • Ensure that sources of information on safety, health, and environmental law, guidance and codes of practice are maintained.
  • Manage the day-to-day running of behavioural safety programmes and facilitate cultural change.
  • Undertake special projects as directed by the H&S Manager.
  • Collect reliable SHE data, analyse & monitor performance, to understand losses, focus areas and opportunities for improvement.
  • Support the Security Champion in ensuring compliance with legal and Nestle requirements.

Requirements.

  • A minimum of SHE qualifications equivalent to European Qualification Framework Level 4, ideally the NEBOSH SHE Diplomas.
  • Minimum 3 years experience working in SHE in manufacturing, warehousing and engineering environments.
  • Able to show excellent interpersonal skills, initiative, autonomy and a proactive, pragmatic approach to safety, health and the environment.
  • Highly developed written and verbal skills.
