Job Description

As a Software Application Engineer, you will provide after-sales service support for the entire Movicon Machine Automation Solutions (MAS) software portfolio.The ideal candidate for this role has a strong customer orientation and can ensure the best customer experience. The key technologies to be familiar with are HTML5, SVG, WPF, XAML, .Net, VB.Net, Java Script, connectivity protocols, cloud and database, reporting, and graphic development tools. In addition, the mastery of knowledge and features such as augmented reality for industrial applications, lean manufacturing, and energy analytics are essential in the overall customer value proposition.This role requires close collaboration with customers so that they can maximize the benefits of the purchased software. It often requires understanding the problem they are trying to solve and their application goals and working with them to recommend various approaches to achieve the best-desired result. When additional expertise is required, working with the international team of experts, including the Movicon R&D team in Modena, can often provide a solution to customers quickly and efficiently, as this role offers the opportunity to work with colleagues in the United States and worldwide.The role may also include trips to customer locations for the provision of services, pre-sales sessions, training or on-site support. This does not exceed 10% of the total activity time in the year.

Responsibility

• Get to know the Movicon.Next software platform becomes a power user of the product.
• Manage customer tickets and provide support with a view to continuous improvement, both of the product and of the process
• Understanding the customer’s goals and providing advice on how to achieve them in the best possible way, with the best possible product
• Develop and extend the knowledge base to help the business scale and help customers find answers to common questions
• Teaming up with the worldwide team that works cross-functional to speed up solution times
• Understand how to connect to Emerson and non-Emerson controllers and equipment
• Provide training and expertise to customers

Requirements 

• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Industrial Automation, or similar qualification. Equivalent work experience is also considered.
• Willingness to learn new software systems and develop new skills
• Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work cross-functional with a global team
• Positive and proactive attitude in relations with clients and colleagues.
• Ability to write basic software programs using tools like Visual Studio with procedural languages, VBA preferred, VB.NET, JavaScript, C #
• PC knowledge and skills (Windows and Linux).

• 2 years of experience in developing SCADA / HMI applications is desirable
• Previous experience as an Application Engineer, Field Service Engineer or Control Engineer is desirable
• Ability to go to customer sites, if necessary, for troubleshooting and diagnosis of reported problems
• Good knowledge of Italian and English.
