A full DBS check will be required before teaching. Priory School is a mixed 11-16 School with around 1240 students on roll situated in the heart of Southsea.

2. Peripatetic Teacher for Singing / Vocal Coach

We have an opportunity for a confident, talented and enthusiastic singing teacher / vocal coach to join the Peripatetic team.

Excellent communication skills are required, as well as patience and a sense of humour, to engage and motivate children with a wide repertoire of music.

This self-employed position will likely take up to 3-5 hours of teaching per week. However, there is the possibility of more in the future as student interest grows.

The peripatetic team plays an active role in the school’s musical life, contributing to concerts, productions, and other musical events.

Duties of the role will include:

  • To teach Singing as required by the Tutor of Music in group and individual settings.
  • To support/direct ensembles as directed by the Tutor of Music.
  • To encourage pupils to gain singing knowledge and skills through learning in lessons and through the experience of group singing sessions.
  • To enrich each pupil’s education by providing appropriate singing experiences and skills that will serve the student for future music making, whether for leisure or professional purposes.
  • To prepare pupils for exams, concerts, and performances as appropriate.
  • To plan and keep accurate records of lessons, pupil progress, and achievement, keep accurate attendance registers and other such records as required.
  • To have and continue to update a thorough knowledge of teaching methods and repertoire and to be able to advise pupils and the school about suitable repertoire and teaching material.
  • Within a holistic music education approach, teach and encourage good technique, posture, and stylistic awareness.

3. Peripatetic Music Teacher: Stringed Instruments

They are looking to welcome a new String teacher to deliver peripatetic instrumental lessons and be a part of their amazing Music team.

You would be required on Thursdays from 8.30-4.30 and Fridays from 8.00-3.30. This will be paid at £30 per hour.

The main responsibilities of your role will be:

  • To deliver the Music in Secondary Schools Trust instrumental program with KS3 Violins (max 15 students at a time)
  • To deliver small group and 1-2-1 tuition on Violin
  • To deliver a small number of cello and Double Bass group lessons
  • To prepare students for Trinity Graded exams and GCSE Performance Exams
  • To lead smaller enrichment ensembles and support the larger ensembles
  • To support performances in and outside of the Academy
  • To monitor and audit the condition and allocation of instruments

Qualifications & Experience
