What Is the SACE Exam?

The SACE Exam is called the South Australian Certificate Of Education, an exam conducted and awarded to students who have completed their senior secondary schooling in South Australia.

The SACE Board of South Australia (formerly known as the Senior Secondary Assessment Board of South Australia, or SSABSA) administrates the certificate, and SACE is also taught in Northern Territory secondary schools, where it is known as the Northern Territory Certificate of Education and Training (NTCET).

The South Australian Matriculation (SAM) certificate is a qualification based on the SACE curriculum administrated by the SACE Board of South Australia and taught in some schools in Malaysia and China.

To get the SACE, students must gain 200 credits from a range of subjects they take, usually over two years. Twenty credits are equal to a full-year subject, while 10 credits are equal to a semester-long subject.

Requirement For The SACE Exam With Minimum Scores

These are the requirements composing of the subjects and minimum scores to completely sit and ace your SACE Exams when writing it;

• If you’re enrolled in a subject or subjects that have exams, you’ll receive an exam attendance slip, which shows the exams you’re registered to attend and the relevant rules. You must bring this slip with you to all your exams.
• Students must achieve an A, B, or C for all the compulsory subjects and courses.
• Students must achieve an A, B, or C in 140 credits.
• You can use English-English dictionaries, bilingual dictionaries, and monolingual dictionaries in your written exams electronic dictionaries are not permitted.
• In stage 1, you must have a grade C or higher in the Personal Learning Plan, which is completed in year 11 or grade 10 with 10 credit
• You must also ace your numeracy (requirement) – a mathematics subject or course in Stage 1 or Stage 2 with (10 credits)
• You must ace your literacy (requirement) – an English subject or course in Stage 1 or Stage 2 with(20 credits)
• In stage 2 also, you must grade a C or higher in the Research Project which is completed in Year 11 or Year 12 with (10 credits).

Stages Of The SACE Exam

Stage 1

At Stage 1, subjects are 100 per cent assessed by teachers at schools. Marks in the compulsory subjects (Personal Learning Plan, and English and mathematics) are double-checked (moderated) by external experts. Students receive a final grade from A to E for each Stage 1 subject.

Stage 1 of the SACE usually begins in Year 10, with students studying the Personal Learning Plan, and continues through Year 11. In Year 11, students can choose from a range of SACE Stage 1 subjects offered by their school.

There are three compulsory requirements at Stage 1, which are ;

1. The Personal Learning Plan, worth ten credits
2. A full year of English, worth 20 credits
3. A semester of mathematics is worth ten credits.

Take Note; The English and mathematics subjects fulfill the literacy and numeracy requirements of the SACE. Students will need to achieve a C grade or higher for all of these subjects to achieve their SACE.

Stage 2

In stage 2, you will need to achieve a C– grade or better in 60 credits of subjects or the VET equivalent and in 10 credits for the Research Project, and this stage is mostly done by students in year 12.

Students are to complete the English subject with a C- grade or better will meet the literacy requirement of the SACE, and choosing your Stage 2 subjects will be a similar process to choosing those you studied in Stage 1.
