Scholarships In France 2024/2025 Apply Now!

There are currently available scholarships in France, and suppose you are interested in securing a scholarship in France, then you are in the right place.

In this post, we will take an in-depth look into the scholarships in France, detailing some of the scholarships in France and also describing their pros and cons.

Sure, scholarships are significant to every student since a scholarship mainly helps a student by easing the student’s expenses concerning their educational expenses, footing the tuition and sometimes the accommodations of a student.

For this reason, my institutions and organizations in France decided to award scholarships to students, especially international students. But unfortunately, not many get to secure the scholarship due to the limited slots and a high number of applicants.

Most of the time, students with the best results/resumes can secure scholarships. So, students are always advised to meet the scholarship requirements to avoid disappointment or disqualification.

Proceed into the post to find detailed information about France’s scholarships.

What is a Scholarship?

A scholarship is financial support awarded to a student based on academic achievement or other criteria, including the economic need for schooling.

There are various types of scholarships, the most common being merit-based and need-based. The donor or department funding the scholarship sets the criteria for recipient selection, and the grantor defines explicitly how the money is to be applied.

The funds are used to defray the costs of tuition, books, room, board and other expenses directly tied to a student’s educational price through the university.

Scholarships are typically awarded using a variety of factors, including – but not limited to academic achievement, departmental and community involvement, employment experience, areas of study, and financial need.

The French Foreign Ministry awards many different scholarships to international students. The Ministry directly finances 25% of these scholarships in the framework of Eiffel (for Master’s or Doctoral level studies) or Major programmes (for the best international students who have graduated from French high schools abroad).

Steeped in history and the very home to fantastic architecture and to-die-for food and drink, it’s no surprise France is one of the world’s most popular study abroad destinations, with four French cities featuring in the QS Best Student Cities 2019.

Most other non-English speaking countries usually require students to learn their languages before begging the actual program/school studies. And considering English is not primarily spoken in France, some might think only francophone foreigners can apply.

But France offers many English-taught programs in its 31 top universities featured in the QS World University Rankings 2020, so you don’t need to be a Francophone to study in France.

The Bill Walsh Scholarship

Six scholarships are awarded annually through the ACES Education Fund. One is the Bill Walsh scholarship, in honour of the late editor, author, and ACES guiding spirit.

Eligibility

Applicants for all ACES scholarships must seek degrees as enrolled college/university juniors, seniors, or graduate students during the fall term and demonstrate an interest in editing as a career. Scholarships are awarded without regard to the student’s nationality, residence or field of academic concentration. Previous scholarship winners are not eligible.

Benefits

The winner, a student who demonstrates excellence in editing news, receives $3,500 plus financial aid to attend the ACES national conference.

The other five ACES scholarships are awarded to students who excel in critical thinking about written materials in any field and aspire to a career involving editing.

Four winners each receive $1,500, and $2,500 will go to the student chosen as the Aubespin scholar. All five winners also are eligible for aid to attend the ACES conference. The generosity of donors enables all of these awards.

Application

The Walsh scholarship will go to an applicant who aspires to edit news and demonstrates the talent and passion for language to which Bill Walsh devoted his career.

Applicants for the other five scholarships should commit to editing written materials and demonstrate effectiveness in doing so.

We’re looking for critical thinkers who have a passion for words and enjoy making writing clear, accurate and engaging. A student may simultaneously seek both the Walsh Award and one of the other five scholarships.
