Future students (commencing with an undergraduate degree) can receive a scholarship valued at up to $5000.

John, Belle & Richard Miller, Bridgewater Scholarships for Opportunity
This scholarship acknowledges the long-standing connection of John, Belle, and Richard Miller’s family to the Illawarra Region. This scholarship represents the Miller family’s desire to support the studies of students in need and recognizes those involved in the community.
Applicants must apply through UAC Equity and provide UOW with a one-page outline of their involvement in the community and how the scholarship will assist with their career ambitions. Selection will be based on application to UOW Scholarships and UAC Equity.
Applicants will only be considered if they have submitted both applications.

Transforming Futures Scholarship – Future Students
Transforming Futures Scholarships are made possible through generous gifts from UOW alumni, staff, and donors. These $3000 scholarships per year over 3 years recognize the capacity of all students and seek to provide support to ensure students can participate in and make the most of their higher education.
Transforming Futures Scholarships are awarded to students who have demonstrated needs such as financial or social disadvantage. A range of criteria is looked at in determining this need, such as low income, family background, living in a rural or isolated region, having a permanent disability, being a recent migrant from a non-English speaking country, and Indigenous Australians.
GYPSY JONES TRANSFORMING FUTURES MEAL GRANTS Gypsy Jones café, located on the UOW Wollongong Campus, provides fast, affordable, healthy lunches, snacks, and coffees in a chilled café setting. Gypsy Jones has generously established the Gypsy Jones Transforming Futures Meal Grants, which includes one complimentary meal at Gypsy Jones each week for the first year of your studies.
These meal grants will be awarded to 2024 Transforming Futures Future Student Scholars following the existing selection framework of the Transforming Futures Scholarships.

School of Medicine Scholarship for Indigenous Students – Future Students
The School of Medicine Scholarship for Indigenous Students will act as a pivotal tool to attract Indigenous Students to the UOW School of Medicine in their pursuit of a career as a medical practitioner.
Up to ten (10) scholarships are available and will be no less than $2,000 and no more than $10,000 in value.
The value of the scholarship will be determined by the number of eligible applications and available funding.

The Dearden Family Transforming Futures Scholarship
Transforming Futures Scholarships are awarded to students who have demonstrated needs such as financial or social disadvantage.
A range of criteria is looked at in determining this need, such as low income, family background, living in a rural or isolated region, having a permanent disability, being a recent migrant from a non-English speaking country, and Indigenous Australians.
The Dearden Family Transforming Futures Scholarship will be awarded by the existing selection framework of the Transforming Futures Scholarships, Future Students.
The Dearden Family Transforming Futures Scholarship will be weighted towards a preference for supporting students studying a STEM-related degree from rural or regional Australia. UOW automatically considers students based on information received directly from the Transforming Futures – Future Students scholarship application.

The Ray McGill Scholarship for Indigenous Students
The Ray McGill Scholarship for Indigenous students was established by UOW alumnus Mr. Ray McGill, who graduated with a Bachelor of Science in 2007. Ray has established the scholarship to provide access to further education and opportunities to a student who may not otherwise be able to afford to attend University.
The Ray McGill Scholarship will support one (1) student commencing their first (1st) year of any degree at the University of Wollongong. The successful applicant must be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent and demonstrate financial need or educational disadvantage.
Applicants are asked to complete a UOW scholarship application package and a UAC Equity Scholarship online application form and provide a one-page statement outlining how the scholarship will assist with their career ambitions.
