Chrono24 is a marketplace dedicated to luxury watches, attracting 500,000 luxury watch enthusiasts daily from over 100 countries worldwide.And our translation department translates German marketing materials into all languages ​​to provide our users with a pleasant shopping experience.In this position, you will be in charge of German translation as a Japanese translator, including proofreading Japanese articles posted by writers.Weekly meetings are held to keep in touch with the staff of other departments in each overseas branch, including the German headquarters, and to confirm the details of each project with the department in charge of translation. In addition, we will form a team with editors and constantly double-check to maintain high quality.In Chrono24, we look after watch lovers from over 80 countries and communicate in more than 20 languages. To offer our users an optimal shopping experience, the team in our translation team translates all marketing material in-house from German to all other languages. As a translator for Japanese, you are responsible for the translations from German. You will also edit Japanese texts created by external writers. You will be in constant contact with colleagues from the various departments of our offices in Karlsruhe, Hong Kong, New York and Berlin related to your duties and will receive detailed weekly briefings from our Translation Management Team on the individual jobs. You will also have a team of external editors at your side to ensure the quality of your work in the 4-eyes principle.

Responsibilities

• Translate German-based textbooks sent by the Berlin editorial department as a Japanese translator on the Krono 24 portal site.
• Translate (localized) by arranging (localized) our website, corporate business operators and information or materials, contents described in online magazines, etc.
• The writer submits Japanese articles to online magazines to maintain consistent quality and style.
• We will support the product management, marketing, support centre, PR and sales promotion departments if a business requires specialized knowledge, such as localization and transmission (creative translation).
• We exchange opinions daily with Hong Kong and Tokyo branch staff to create content that can be close to users.
• The translation department, a regular meeting with a stakeholder, rubs together detailed instructions in the translation content.
• We will actively contribute to improving our platform, such as searching for keywords and optimizing search engines.

What to expect

• Be a translator for the Japanese-language portal of Chrono24 and create tailor-made, high-quality Japanese content based on German source texts from our editorial office in Berlin.
• Localize content from our website, customer communication (B2C and B2B) and our online magazine.
• Proofread Japanese-language texts by external authors for our online magazine and thus ensured uniform quality and style.
• Support our teams in Product Management, Product Marketing, Customer Relations, PR & Sales with your expertise in localization and transcreation
• Exchange ideas with colleagues in our office APAC ( Hong Kong and Japan) regularly to always be very close to our users.
• Attend weekly briefings with Translation Management and individual stakeholders to receive explanations on all the details of the content to be translated
• Actively contribute to the improvement of our platform with the help of keyword research and search engine.

Requirements

Skills

Necessary experience/skillsNative Japanese and passing Common European Framework of Reference for Languages ​​(CEFR) B2 level, or German native and passing Japanese-Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) N1 level.

• Bachelor’s degree in translation or linguistics or equivalent training.
• Experience in translation, localization, and marketing from German to Japanese for an online sales website.
• You have a good understanding of what you need to do to improve and optimize search engines for ease of use.
• Accustomed to using CAT tools and handling technical terms.
• Able to work alone or in a team without resistance.

What distinguishes youNative in Japanese and obtain B2 level in Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) OR Native in German and obtain N1 in Japanese-Language Proficiency Test (JLPT)

• Degree holder or comparable training in the field of translation or linguistics.
• Have relevant experience in translating and localizing website content in the e-commerce or online sector and marketing from German to Japanese.
• Familiarize yourself with Search engine optimization mechanism
• Comfortable with CAT tools and enjoy terminology work.
• Able to work independently and simultaneously, an excellent team player.
