Job Description.
The Visual Inspections Specialist I is responsible for performing robotic and limited-access inspections of gas or steam turbines and generators. These inspections with associated data acquisition are carried out at commercial power plants worldwide. Other responsibilities include completing standard service or test reports and monitoring project site safety.
Responsibilities.
- Implement and follow all written practices and policies regarding the applicable technique/technology involved, as well as aid in continually developing these procedures & techniques to improve the deliverables constantly.
- This position requires analytical abilities, great communication skills (for both co-workers and clients), solid working knowledge of GE OEM generators and turbines, strong computer skill background, and solid professional writing capabilities to work closely with the end. Customers, internal GE customers, various Field Engineers, Contract Performance Managers,
- Quality leaders, Operations managers and Product Line Leaders.
- Full responsibility for producing final reports for GE Representatives and end customers.
- Directly conduct limited access borescope inspections and/or robotic operation of miniature air gap inspection crawlers (MAGIC).
- Translate engineering specifications into relevant vibration and acoustic test measurement methods and procedures.
- Provide analysis and reporting of data received from field inspections.
- Provide technical guidance to field service measurement technicians and specialists.
- Drive safety, quality and technical excellence.
- Ability and willingness to work holidays, weekends and overtime as required by field assignments
- Travel may be required.
- May be assigned other duties to help proactively drive our FieldCore vision and align with our organization’s core values.
Requirements.
- Professional Band I: This applies to Trainee skill level 1 and/or Qualified Skill Level 2:
- Technical/University degree or qualifying experience or a High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 3 years of experience in field services role for Trainee Skill Level 1 personnel includes most new hires with little experience on the GE Products will start in this level. Participates in classroom training and on-the-job training. Work under the supervision of qualified personnel. Basic knowledge of inspection/testing and assigned hardware. Trainees shall not independently conduct inspections/tests or make accept/reject decisions. Soft-Skills expectations: Assimilated into our business culture, can execute required administrative duties such as timesheet entry tool, T&L, PCard, etc. Basic understanding of organizational structures and leadership. Through classroom, labs and on-the-job training, understand basic processes and methods to execute inspection/test work scope. Assumes personal responsibility and follows up to meet commitments to others, responds quickly and proactively to all requests.
- For Qualified Skill Level 2 personnel.
- The French language is a must.
- English proficiency is required.
- Advanced computer skills such as MS Word, Excel, & PowerPoint for data analysis, word processing and spreadsheet manipulation.
- Extensive travel to and from projects and various field assignments will be required.
- Possess a valid driver’s license.
- TWIC.
- Analytical abilities and great communication skills (for both co-workers and clients).
