Company Description

Located on the northeastern tip of Long Lake, Nanaimo Memory Care is an 83-bed beautiful residential complex care community.

Offering resident-centred care with a specialized focus on our award-winning Avenir Alzheimer’s program.

Designed to encourage interaction and independence while concentrating on meeting residents’ unique needs by promoting their individuality and enhancing their health and spiritual well-being.

This community will be the first stand-alone memory care residence available to seniors living with dementia on Vancouver Island.

Residents will benefit from Nanaimo Memory Care’s neighbourhood design concept and secure home-like environment.

Alzheimer’s trained licensed professional staff on site 24 hours a day conduct meaningful engagements personalized to each resident’s preferences.

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Perform Theyekly cleaning functions as directed by the supervisor
  2. Remove soiled bed and bath linens and replace them with fresh linens (where applicable)
  3. Clean phones, bathrooms and kitchen areas.
  4. Clean the outside of the refrigerator, and dusts furniture and lamps.
  5. Check for cobTheybs and removes them.
  6. Clean woodwork as needed.
  7. Vacuum carpets and sTheyep as needed.
  8. Perform 30-60 day cleaning (where applicable).
  9. Defrost the refrigerator and vacuum under the beds.
  10. Turn mattresses (where applicable).
  11. Biannually wash windows inside and out.
  12. Vacuum and dust in hallways.
  13. Clean fingerprints as needed.
  14. Clean common areas as needed.
  15. Clean resident rooms, and bathrooms as scheduled.
  16. Complete maintenance slips and submits.
  17. Mop stairways as required (where applicable)
  18. Polish and clean trash/linen chutes.

Qualifications

Education Required:

  • High School diploma preferred or the equivalent education, training and experience.

Years of Experience:

  • 3 – 6 months experience in housekeeping or janitorial position.

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Requires knowledge of cleaning solvents and materials and ability to clean apartments/rooms based on established standards.

Special Requirements (if applicable):

  • Ability to follow cleaning procedures and instructions.
  • Doctor’s statement verifying free from communicable disease

Additional Information

List tools, equipment, machines computers and software used on the job:

  • Vacuum cleaner, broom

Physical activities of the position:

  • Lifts to 50 lbs. occasionally
  • Carries up to 100 lbs. occasionally
  • Pushes and pulls up to 100 lbs. occasionally
  • Climbs reach, bend and twist occasionally
  • Talks and listen occasionally
  • Sits 1 hour per day; stands and walks 7 hours per day (combined) = 8-hour day.

Environmental factors:

  • The worker is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside.
  • The worker is subject to hazards.
  • The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
