The Safety Officer is a key figure in the film and production environment, tasked with maintaining the highest levels of safety on sets and production locations. The role involves a unique blend of creative operational understanding and rigorous enforcement of safety protocols to ensure the well-being of cast, crew, and production staff.

 

Key Responsibilities:

– Tailor and enforce safety policies and procedures specifically designed for the film and production industry, ensuring compliance with OSHA standards relevant to the sector.

– Secure permits and permissions unique to filming locations and production requirements.

– Oversee Key Man Management, focusing on the unique roles essential to on-set safety in production.

– Develop and implement safety programs and protocols, considering the dynamic and varied nature of film production environments.

– Conduct safety training sessions that address the specific risks associated with film and production work.

– Manage safety procedure implementation, emphasizing adaptability to the diverse scenarios encountered in production settings.

– Perform risk assessments with a focus on the particularities of film sets and on-location shoots.

– Ensure that maintenance and repairs are conducted promptly, with an understanding of the production schedules and timelines.

– Coordinate and lead incident response, acting as a liaison between production teams and external agencies, with a knack for handling on-set emergencies.

– Execute post-incident analysis with a focus on lessons learned in the context of film production, proposing and implementing proactive changes to enhance on-set safety.

 

Qualifications:

– Experience in safety management within the film and production industry.

– OSHA certification, with additional credentials in entertainment production safety preferred.

– Ideal candidates will hold CFI-I, CFI-II, or CFI-III certification, emphasizing applications within film and production settings.

– Preference for candidates with Fire/EMS response experience.
