About the job:
Lighthouse Private Primary School is looking for a Primary School Teacher to join our roster of experienced, motivated and effective teaching professionals. The successful candidate will assume a main teacher role in a class with a small number of students. We strive in every way to create an inspiring and enriching atmosphere both for our students and our personnel. Every day, we encourage our teachers to interact with their students on a personal level and to identify each student’s learning patterns. We put strong emphasis on hands-on activities, interactive learning and the use of props and other educational tools.
Teacher responsibilities and duties
The responsibilities and duties of a successful candidate require them to be able to:
- Create lesson plans for each class based on your experience and the students’ specific needs
- Introduce interactive activities into the classroom and encourage students to vocalise their concerns and questions
- Communicate with other team members as well as with parents about students’ progress and behaviour
- Join the rotation of teachers who assist with start-of-day and end-of-day student care procedures
- Organise students into small groups for social education
- Encourage creativity in students by organising art and craft projects on a daily basis
- Create a welcoming and inspiring atmosphere in the classroom
- Listen carefully to parents’ requests and concerns and address them as quickly as possible
Teacher qualifications and skills
The candidate must:
- Have a bachelor’s degree in primary education
- Be a fluent English speaker
- Have valid teaching qualifications for primary education
- Qualifications must be recognised by the Authority for recognition of Higher Education Qualifications (KYSATS)
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Have a clear police record
- Be a permanent resident of Cyprus, (non-EU citizens must have all necessary work permits/visas)
- Previous experience teaching primary school classes will be regarded as an advantage
