Full Job Description
Overview: the research assistant collaborates with the principal investigator (PI) and will assist in the acquisition, manipulation, and analysis of data, as well as the reporting of results. Our Work includes 1) developing instrumentation for collecting wheelchair usage data, 2) collecting data with wheelchair users, 3) maintaining databases, 4) analyzing usage data, and 5) writing research manuscripts and conference abstracts.
Responsibilities
- An assists the research team with study-related tasks such as sensor design and validation.
- Assists with the completion of protocol-related activities.
- Assists with developing and coordinating the research subject schedule in compliance with the research protocol.
- Assists with the collection, recording, and maintenance of research study records.
- May assist in developing and maintaining research tools, such as spreadsheets, questionnaires, and brochures.
- Attend regular research meetings.
- Enhance professional growth and development through case conferences, educational programs, in-service meetings, workshops, and seminars.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in medical product design or engineering.
- Thorough understanding of wheelchair usage data collection and analysis.
- Experience with human subjects’ data collection.
- The position requires a solid background in using computers and data analysis.
- Research experience in the field of rehabilitation engineering.
- We have demonstrated proficiency with various computer-based skills, especially in word processing, spreadsheets, database, and presentation software, and the ability to undertake internet searches.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Must be self-directed with demonstrated ability to work independently.
The complexity of Work:
- Requires excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Must be able to take direction and appropriate action in a stressful environment.
Work Experience
- Experience in a healthcare or research setting preferred.
