Role description
The Security DevOps engineer is responsible for securing, developing, and supporting the DevOps and cloud-based technologies (SaaS and IaaS/PaaS).
You will also consult with product teams and test to ensure products are developed to minimize threats and risks.
You will play a significant role in helping Digital Hub move from its current footprint to the new enterprise Cloud footprint.
Working closely with our enterprise cloud team, you will provide input into the CI/CD best practices evolving as part of the larger Supply Chain initiative.
You will contribute to the design and development of the DevOps improvements, Proof of Concepts, and the end-to-end lifecycle, aligning to best practices, organizational standards, and directions in collaboration with product and architecture.
To be successful in this role, you will maintain a high degree of technical and secure understanding related to your DevOps engineering.
Ideally, you have one or more personal side projects on the go to continually learn and try new things outside the work environment, allowing you to stay ahead of the curb.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary degree/diploma in business or computer science or an equivalent combination of training and experience
- 5+ years experience in SecDevOps, Cloud/DevOps, or demonstrable transferrable skills
- Excellent understanding of cyber security concepts
- Certified in one or more of the following:
- Google Professional Cloud Security Engineer
- Microsoft Certified Azure Security Engineer Associate (AZ-500)
- AWS Certified Security
- CompTIA Cloud+/CompTIA Security/CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner
- (ISC)2 Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP)/CISSP
- Certificate of Cloud Security Knowledge (CCSK)
- GIAC Cloud Security Automation (GCSA)
- Experience working with tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, Ansible, or other Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
- Expertise with CI/CD tooling such as Git, Jenkins, SonarQube, Nexus, Vault, etc.
- Experience in working with at least one of the major public cloud providers (Azure, GCP, or AWS) and a willingness to continue to expand your knowledge
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals and the ability to troubleshoot the difference between a Layer 4 and Layer 7 issue
- Strong understanding of authentication patterns, including SAML SSO and JWT
- Willingness to work in a 24/7 operational capacity, with occasional on-call based on functional requirements.
- Comfortable discussing the SDLC process and identifying areas for automation or improvement
- Agile delivery experience
- Proven experience and understanding of engineering best practices
- Proven ability to develop and maintain collaborative business relationships
- Able to pivot and quickly change direction in response to changing priorities
- Ability to communicate, verbally and in writing, complex concepts to a non-technical audience
- Working knowledge of Jira and Confluence is an asset
- Experience working in the financial services industry as an asset.
Other Qualifications
- Automation first mindset
- Deep working knowledge of Terraform and state management
- Prior knowledge of Salesforce, especially CI/CD strategies and technologies
- Previous experience with f5 WAF’s, SDNs, etc
- Industry Cloud certifications or similar.
