Job Description.

The Tool Room Lead is responsible for the oversight and day-to-day staff management of toolmakers and tooling asset control of ~26,000 jigs and fixtures.

This role includes leading the completion of technical tool room activities and project support within the tool room, tooling maintenance, and tooling audit functions.

Reporting to the Military, RTW & Legacy Assembly ME Manager, the Tool Room Lead is responsible for ensuring the internal value stream and customers’ needs are met regarding safe storage and asset management for military and civil programs. This role ensures both internal and external communication and coordination at all business levels to ensure projects (ToW, NPI, and refurbishment work packages) are executed in line with departmental priorities and business needs. The role also works in collaboration with site configuration, and the core manufacturing technical teams in supporting manufacturing documents within the MCS, CMAS and WQN systems.

Essential Responsibilities:

This is a key cross-functional position, with interaction among all onsite support functions and the supplier base that will drive cross-functional execution to exceed milestone and program targets for NPIs and industrialization and sustain tooling activities.

  • Supervision and oversight of shop floor tool maintenance/toolmaker team
  • Toolroom EHS compliance KPIs
  • TRN processing (Tooling Requests) and TRN KPIs
  • Stores lift tooling movements and shipping/receipt
  • Receipt and dispatch paperwork
  • Technical documentation configuration: MCS/CMAS/WQN/DQN
  • MP uploading for all value streams
  • WQN support/uploads
  • ToW & Tooling data support/ configuration and business transfer readiness
  • CODA purchasing requisitions representation and order management/user
  • ME Team calibration compliance monitoring
  • Capacity chart routine update coordination
  • Team TMS support
  • Skills matrix support

Qualifications / Preferences:

  • Team leadership/task management
  • EHS Awareness
  • Tooling and tooling Technical awareness
  • Tooling re-certification awareness
  • Other Relevant experience shall also be considered
  • Basic Excel and project coordination skills
  • Ability to identify/track metrics and drive continuous improvement.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, and ability to clearly communicate to internal/external customers and suppliers.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to interface with varied levels from Operators to Plant Management.
  • Self-directed, highly detail-oriented, organized, flexible and a strong team player.
  • Relevant experience in a manufacturing/engineering environment
  • Basic Proficiency in Microsoft (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Experience in using customer interfaces ATAME etc.
