Tasks

  • Provide consulting services to senior management on a variety of HR Transformation initiatives; projects typically include some or all of the following:
  • HR strategy development, operational assessments, readiness assessments, process redesign, and HR operating model design,
  • HR organizational design, HR shared services planning and implementation, sourcing strategies (insourcing vs. outsourcing), automated and digital solutions for HR service delivery
  • Technology enablement, vendor selection, HR operating model and technology implementation support
  • Develop strategies, philosophies, and programs that address clients’ needs
  • Clarify and resolve unique and difficult issues related to client deliverables
  • Meet, interview, and partner with senior client stakeholders
  • Ensure client learnings are captured and synthesized for application for future client engagements
  • Led delivery of HR Transformation engagements, including acting as overall program manager, peer reviewer, and day-to-day client contact
  • Manage project economics – delivery on time and within budget, elevating out-of-scope requests as needed
  • Manage consultants, and when appropriate, clients’ expectations by clearly communicating deadlines, deliverables, and availability of resources
  • Manage delivery teams to ensure the quality and value of all project deliverables for engagements
  • Direct and oversee data compilation, research and analysis performed by team members on HR Transformation projects (e.g., cost and volume analysis, benchmarking, survey results, etc.)
  • Supervise junior staff; delegate and peer review all client work as well as develop, evaluate, and mentor less experienced colleagues
  • Lead discussions with prospects and clients on Mercer’s HR transformation value proposition and service offerings
  • Prepare proposals and present Mercer’s capabilities to a wide range of prospects and stakeholders

Qualifications

  • HR Experience / General Knowledge
  • BA/BS degree in business, information systems, HR management or organizational psychology
  • At least 10+ years of external/internal consulting experience related to the successful delivery of HR Transformation projects for large organizations
  • At least 5+ years of proven experience as a program manager, managing large-scale projects with multiple work streams
  • In-depth content knowledge in at least three of the following areas: HR strategy, HR technology, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Content knowledge in the full lifecycle of HR, from Hire to Retire (Recruiting, Talent Management, Rewards, Performance Management, etc.)
  • Strong working knowledge of core Human Resources Management Systems, such as Workday, SuccessFactors, Oracle, ServiceNow and/or Lawson
  • Strong working knowledge of best-of-breed technologies in support of HR for Recruitment, Time and Attendance, Payroll, Rewards, Learning, Talent Management, etc.
  • Strong working knowledge of shared services technologies such as case management, knowledge management, document management, telephony, etc.
  • Experience with digital tools to support HR automation, such as robotic process automation (RPA), chatbots, and AI tools
  • Core Consulting Skills
  • Proven sales and business development experience
  • Ability to successfully write proposals for new business opportunities and to present proposed projects to executive-level management
  • Ability to identify, design, and recommend comprehensive, innovative solutions to help solve clients’ complex business issues
  • Ability to financially scope a project as well as manage project budgets and risks
  • Strong verbal and written communication as well as strong presentation skills
  • Strong Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and Visio skills
  • Creative and proactive problem-solving skills; willingness to adapt to changing work and travel requirements
  • Collaborative working style; supports and enables partnering with team members
  • Ability to develop productive working relationships with diverse groups of people
  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Demonstrated breadth and depth of experience, including experience in other areas of human capital (e.g., Talent Management, Talent Strategy, Workforce Analytics, Organizational Design, HR Communications, Change Management, Workday Deployment, Employee Engagement, etc.)
