The below job description will outline this position of: Outfitting Engineer
Typically, this person will oversee installation of equipment on multiple marine new build projects.
HSB Technical’s client is a very established and well-regarded business entity.
Duties and responsibilities of the Outfitting Engineer:
•Ensure that all equipment is installed to classification/flag/OEM to the correct standards.
•Making sure all mechanical equipment are fitted per construction and outfitting drawings / manuals.
•Checking that all drawing modifications are properly approved by class, yard, project manager and owners.
•Ensure all “as built” Construction drawings, Electrical drawings and System diagrams are 100% accurate.
•Meeting with the yard and owners to discuss progress, quality, safety and procedures ect.
•Monitor installation, alignment etc. of main machinery and deck equipment – Gensets, Main Thrusters, Bow Thrusters, Energy Storage Units, WtW Gangway, Heave Compensated 3D Deck Crane.
•Attend FAT’s (locally and offsite) for equipment manufactured either at the yard or by yard contractors (switchboards, battery packs etc.) and as agreed with owner.
•Ensure full compliance in terms of hardware, electrical, electronic systems with DP2 Operations using Class rules and IMCA guidelines as reference. There shall be Zero single point failures that will cause the loss of vessel position while the vessel is operating within the limits set down by IMCA and as per Ship’s specific DP Ops Manual.
•Bring Ship’s Chief Engineer’s and ETO’s up to speed covering areas related to their relevant disciplines. Oversee ship’s staff progress of Planned Maintenance System database. One C/E and One ETO will be on-site permanently from around the 50% completion stage of block construction.
Qualifications and requirement for the Outfitting Engineer:
•Ex ship’s Engineer holding an unlimited Class 1 Marine Engineer CoC ( but not essential) and/or Mechanical Engineering.
•Experienced and competent with a proven track record in Offshore Support Vessel new build projects.
•Previous experience in new build projects in an outfitting capacity is essential.
•Excellent knowledge of Offshore Support Vessel Dynamic Positioning Systems (DP2) and their design / operating criteria.
•Working knowledge of SOLAS, IMO, Class and UK Flag construction guidelines.
•Good Knowledge of Ship’s systems, machinery (including Walk to Work gangways and heave compensated 3D marine cranes), maintenance requirements, Survey requirements.
•Good knowledge of Hybrid propulsion systems.
