Responsibilities

  • Performs various duties regarding patient care, patient transportation, material and supply distribution, and equipment assembly.

  • Continuous: standing, walking, stooping, forward reaching, handling.

  • Operates various machines/tools/work aids.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English orally and in writing.
  • Minimum one (1) year of work experience as a Nurse Aide; or,
  • Diploma or certificate as a Nurse Aide.
  • Diploma or certificate as a Medical Assistant.
  • Diploma or certificate as an Emergency Medical Technician.
  • Diploma or certificate as a Patient Care Technician.
  • A nursing student has completed a semester of clinical fundamentals; or,
  • RN with a foreign RN license with at least one (1) year of acute care experience.
  • Current certification in BLS/HCP.
  • Recent experience in an acute care setting is preferred.

2. Registered Nurse – ER

The North Hawaii Community Emergency Department (ED) is a 13-bed unit that provides comprehensive emergency medical and nursing services 24 hours a day for patients of all ages.

The NHCH Emergency Department is a Level III Trauma Center for the Northern Region of the Island of Hawaii and is affiliated with the Queen’s Health System.

North Hawaii Community Hospital has access to a tertiary facility for higher care via Medivac. A trauma team is available 24 hrs/day, seven days a week, and may be activated by the ER Attending on Duty.

Additionally, Stroke Code protocol may be activated on patients meeting the stroke criteria via telemedicine and Code STEMI for acute coronary syndrome.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for coordinating clinical care of patients.
  • Integrates all health care providers to ensure high-quality patient/family outcomes and establishes a consistent and accountable relationship with patient/family.
  • Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to, initiating and developing the care plan, patient/family education, utilization management, and discharge planning.
  • • Essential: lifting to 2 lb., seeing, hearing, talking, grasping, fingering, standing, walking, stooping, forward reaching, handling.
  • Frequent: pushing and pulling up to 30 psi, lifting to 10 lbs., sitting, bending, squatting, twisting.
  • Occasional: pushing and pulling up to 70 psi; lifting: horizontal lift/carry up to 75 lbs. with assistance, floor to waist up to 35 lbs., waist to shoulder up to 25 lbs., overhead level up to 15 lbs.; carrying up to 35 lbs, running, climbing, side bending, kneeling, crouching, overhead reaching.
  • Operates various machines/tools/work aids.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Diploma or Associate’s Degree in Nursing.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred.
  • Current Hawaii State license as a Registered Nurse.
  • Current certification at BLS/HCP level. Additional certifications may be required based on the area of assignment.
  • ACLS and PALS certification.
  • TNCC certification is to be obtained within six months of the hire/transfer date.
  • At least 12 months of Emergency RN experience in the last three years.
  • ICU experience preferred.

3. RN – Recovery Room West

Surgical Services Pre/Post has 7 pre-operative beds, including one isolation room, and 9 post-operative/procedure beds, including one isolation room, which can be used for Phase I and II patients as needed.

Surgical Services Pre/Post hours of operation are from 5:00 am to 7:00 pm, with a call team available 24/7 for emergency surgeries or procedures. Surgery services may include General, Urology, Orthopedics, Gynecologic, Plastic, Dental/Maxillofacial, Otolaryngology, and Minor Neurosurgery.

Responsibilities

Minimum Qualification

  • Licensure: Registered Nurse, State of Hawaii
  • Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing; Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing preferred.
  • Current BLS/HCP card in all areas; ACLS, NALS, and/or PALS in designated areas.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English effectively.
  • Current ACLS certification is required.
  • PALS certification is required.
  • CPAN/CAPA certification preferred
  • One (1) year of PACU Phase 1 RN experience within the last five (5) years.
  • One (1) year of ICU RN experience is required within the last five (5) years.
