Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program The Gilman Scholarship Program offers scholarships for undergraduate study abroad and was established by the International Academic Opportunity Act of 2000.

This scholarship provides scholarships for U.S. undergraduate students who are receiving Federal Pell Grant funding at a two-year or four-year institution to participate in study and intern abroad programs worldwide.

This program supports under-represented students traditionally, including but not limited to: students with high financial need, community college students, students in underrepresented fields such as science and engineering, students with diverse ethnic backgrounds, and students with disabilities.

The program assists students from a diverse range of public and private institutions from all 50 states, including Washington, DC, and Puerto Rico.

  • Parsigian (Robert and Rose) – Student with demonstrated knowledge of Armenian history and a commitment to enhancing the culture
  • Safran (Thomas) Family Scholarship – Students who demonstrate financial need and have considerable community service experience
  • U-M Faculty and Staff Scholarship Fund – Child of UM-Ann Arbor faculty or staff member who demonstrates financial need
  • Zelenock (Mary Kate) Memorial Scholarship – Undergraduate students who are parents, primary caregivers and have returned to school after break in education

The Office of Financial Aid administers several scholarships for graduate students. If the scholarships are based on demonstrated need, be sure to apply for financial aid to be considered.
